Bauchi state: The pearl of tourism
Bauchi State was created in February 1976 from the former North Eastern State by the former regime of Late General Murtala Mohammed. It is made up of 20 local government areas. Its capital is Bauchi.
Today we will tell you about some things that you may not have known about this beautiful state which has been described as the “PEARL OF TOURISM”.
There are also beautiful hotels and tourist attractions to see in the state.
Bauchi State was created in February 1976
It is an agricultural state. Its products include maize, rice, millet, groundnut and guinea corn. Irrigation farming is practiced and supported by the use of dams like Balanga dam, etc. Cattle and other livestock are also reared in the state.
The state is blessed with many tourist attractions – Yankari Game reserve (the biggest game reserve in West Africa), Premier Game Reserve, Rock Paintings, the State Museum, Wikki Warm Springs et al
Festivals celebrated in the state include – Amanya Festival, Bauchi State Festival of Arts and Culture, Circumcision Feast of Gezawa People, Durbar Festival, Lake Efi Fishing Festival and Yankari Cultural Festival. ( I’ll be writing a separate post about these festivals in a later post
The state also has manufacturing industries in the area of Iron and Steel, Water, Ceramics, Food and Beverages etc.
The incumbent governor of the state is Alh. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed
